Procedures for Goddard College Presidential Review
The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees will conduct an informal evaluation of the President annually, based on goals set mutually between them. The President will present a self-evaluation to the Executive Committee of the Board prior to the annual meeting. [The effectiveness of the Board should be discussed as part of the President's self-evaluation.] The Executive Committee Committee will communicate the contents of this self-evaluation to the full Board during executive session of the annual meeting.
During the third year as President of the college, and every three years thereafter, the Board of Trustees will conduct a formal evaluation. The formal evaluation will not be done in a year that the President's contract is up for renewal.
The purpose of the evaluation will be to enhance the performance performance of the President, to assess achievement of goals stated at the outset of her/his employment, and to advance the mission of the College.
The evaluation will be conducted by members of the Board of Trustees, selected by the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee may wish to hire an outside consultant to sit on the evaluating team.
Members of the evaluating team will interview members of the Board of Trustees (including, but not limited to, the members of the Executive Committee and the "constituent" members of the Board), the President, and key members of the community s selected from the college executive committee and faculty LPG leaders.
Interviews will allow for the widest possible range of discussion of all aspects of presidential performance.
The evaluation team will present a comprehensive written document to the Executive Committee of the Board and to the President.
This report should not only reflect the comments of the interviewees, but should address the priorities and expectations agreed to by the Board and the President when te President was hired. This report may suggest a revised set of goals or the President.
The Executive Committee will discuss the report with the President, and offer copies of the report to the full Board for review during executive session only.
The entire evaluation process will remain confidential to the Board of Trustees.
