UNION TO STAY AT GODDARD

PLAINFIELD -
Goddard College staff members met Wednesday with college officials to set up
further contract negotiations after learning that a move to decertify their
bargaining unit failed.
Results of a March 27 decertification vote were not made known until this week
because the ballots had been impounded due to an unfair labor practice charge
filed against the college.
The National Labor Relations Board ruled in favor of Goddard, which had been
charged with delaying negotiations pending the vote.
Staff members voted 41-16 to keep the Goddard College Staff Federation intact.
The vote was called after several staffers petitioned the board.
Union officials have filed another unfair practice charge over the April
layoffs of 13 staff members.
