PLAINFIELD -- Goddard College has disciplined two students who took over administrative offices at the Plainfield school last week, college officials said Thursday.

Dan Abrams, a leader of the student protest, has been banned from campus, but will be allowed to participate in the school's off-campus program. College spokesman Jim Higgins said Abrams would be dismissed if he violates the order.

The other student, Zenzile Madikena, was told to change his behavior or risk dismissal. Both students also were placed on probation for two semesters by college President Jack Lindquist.

Higgins said eight other protesters will be asked to perform community service, organize an event to unify the campus, and write an evaluation of the protest for their advisers. The 10 students barricaded themselves on the second floor of an administrative building for two days. They issued 26 demands, ranging from changes in the college administrative procedures to ending homelessness.
