GODDARD PRESIDENT TO STEP DOWN IN 1994

PLAINFIELD -- Goddard College President Jackson Kytle will step down when his contract expires in June, 1994 after three years at the school.

Kytle, 52, is credited with turning around the finances of the small, progressive college. Goddard's past three budgets have been balanced without cutting faculty or programs, the college received a $250,000 alumna gift and began an endowment fund.

"Being a college president is a lot like being on a relay team. You run as fast as you can for as long as you can, until you hand it off to the next person," Kytle said.

Kytle said he will look to larger public colleges and universities for his next position.

A search committee to find a replacement is composed of trustees, faculty, staff and students.
